Meal Deal

Carla Ng (she/they) is a director/composer originally from Hong Kong currently based in London. Carla is currently studying classical composition under Amber Priestley and Matthew King at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London.

She was recently selected as a composer for “IN THE DEEP” as a part of the Young Creative Programme in the Almeida Theatre. As a composer/performer, their pieces has been played around the world by herself, Ligeti Quartet as well as her really talented friends in prestigious places such IKLETIK, Milton Court, Lee Hysan Hall, the Theatre of Dionysus, as well as the international space station.

Carla’s work focuses on the human experience. The experience of living, interacting, witnessing, feeling, being bored, taste, smell, food, culture, trauma, camp, the color pink, transness etc. You can find Carla in roles such as director, composer, performer, instrumentalist, filmmaker, editor and visual artist.

Recently, she was awarded a merit award in the 1st Hong Kong International Composition Competition for Chromatic Harmonica 2021 (ICCCH); for the Chromatic Harmonica with Chamber Orchestra Category. Her work ‘A reminder if you forget’ for solo flute, piano and tape is recently featured in THE JOURNEY, an album featuring 7 newly commissioned works by queer composers around the world, performed by flautist Taylor Ireland and pianist Andrea Feitl. THE JOURNEY is now available to be purchased on Taylor’s webste, and soon will be available for streaming.

Carla是一名本地作曲家, 多媒體藝術家和表演者，她自五歲開始接觸音樂，現時在倫敦市政廳音樂及戲劇學院師隨英國作曲家Matthew King和Amber Priestley修讀作曲。二零一八年，Carla獲頒香港作曲聯會獎學金，並隨知名作曲家許翔威先生學習作曲，她的多媒體作品 “A Pianist’s Air” 隨之於同年在香港沙田大會堂首演。在作曲的道路上，Carla一直探索不同曲風和媒體，她希望能將屬於香港的元素加入她的作品當中， 並把這些音樂從西營盤帶到倫敦，再散播於世界。

Carla ／天永係一個本地媒體藝術家。導演，作曲家，姣婆，專業搞屎棍及噪音製造者都不能夠形容吳天永嘅藝術風格，就好似一間茶餐廳一樣，包羅萬有（乜春都有）。

天永由五歲開始玩音樂，而家係倫敦市政廳音樂及戲劇學院跟英國作曲家Matthew King讀作曲。二零一八年，天永獲頒香港作曲聯會獎學金，並隨知名作曲家許翔威先生學習作曲，佢嘅多媒體作品 “A Pianist’s Air” 隨之於同年在香港沙田大會堂首演。最近天永贏咗香港口琴協會舉辦嘅「第一屆香港國際半音階口琴作曲大賽 2021」當中B組（口琴+室樂團協奏曲）嘅優異獎。

天永通常都係以幽默嘅角度包裝佢嘅作品，但係睇真啲，佢嘅作品其實係講緊一啲重要或者好個人嘅議題。笑裡藏刀，more like少女藏do(nut) （哈哈哈哈）
